Backed by board certifications in pain medicine and anesthesiology, Dr. Kim regularly treats back pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), joint pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and other types of chronic pain.
He uses a multimodal pain management approach, which includes avoiding or greatly decreasing opioids while using a blend of several effective techniques to manage pain effectively. Among the innovative approaches Dr. Kim uses are spinal cord stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, and intrathecal drug delivery.
Dr. Kim earned his undergraduate degree with honors at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, Maryland. He then earned his medical degree at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine (SLU) in St. Louis, Missouri.
After completing his transitional year internship at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU) in Flint, Michigan, he served advanced clinical track anesthesiology residency training at the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Dr. Kim then completed his pain medicine fellowship at the University of California Davis Health System (UC Davis Health System) in Sacramento, California.
